Carl Mann was born Aug. 22, 1942 in Huntingdon, Tennessee. He was raised in rural Tennessee. Mann released his first single in 1957 “Gonna Rock and Roll Tonight”. The single was released on Jaxon Records. Eventually Carl Perkin’s drummer became his manager and got him over to Sun Records with a three year contract. His first Sun release was Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa.” At the same time Conway Twitty also released a “Mona Lisa” single both of which hit the charts. At just 16 years old the song peaked at number 25 in 1959. He only had one more song to chart on the top 100.
In 1974 he attempted a return to music as a country artist. After some occasional European tours in the 80′s he returned to the family business.
